Triomune is a combination therapy designed for individuals with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. It comprises three distinct antiretroviral medications: Lamivudine (150mg), Nevirapine (200mg), and Stavudine (40mg).

Packaged in sets of 30 tablets, each tablet provides 40mg of Stavudine, 150mg of Lamivudine, and 200mg of Nevirapine, which corresponds to the standard daily dosages of these treatments. It is advised to take one tablet twice daily with a glass of water for the duration prescribed by your physician.

Occasionally, the use of antiretroviral medications like those in Triomune can result in serious cases of lactic acidosis. Symptoms indicating possible onset of lactic acidosis may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, loss of appetite, weight loss, or muscle weakness. If you experience any of these side effects while using Triomune, inform your doctor immediately.

Other reported side effects associated with the individual active ingredients include:

Stavudine: severe peripheral neuropathy (often dose-related and more likely in patients with advanced HIV infection or those who have previously experienced peripheral neuropathy).

Lamivudine: nausea, vomiting, headaches, abdominal pain and discomfort, peripheral neuropathy, joint pain, muscle pain, skin rash, and pancreatitis.

Nevirapine: onset of rash and liver toxicity (these conditions can be potentially life-threatening and should be monitored closely).

Avoid taking Triomune if you have previously experienced an allergic reaction to any of its active ingredients (stavudine / lamivudine / nevirapine). Triomune should not be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, nor should it be used if you have kidney or liver disease.

Triomune is indicated only for individuals who have undergone prior treatment for HIV, specifically treatment involving nevirapine.

Certain medications may interact adversely with Triomune, potentially compromising its effectiveness or adversely affecting other medications.
